Special Events

Do you want to help out, but don't have the time to volunteer for a program or camp? Have a large group that's looking to donate a single day (or less) of service? Well then TASK's special events are just for you! There are many ways to donate time as a volunteer to TASK: fundraisers, holiday events, resource fairs, and more! Check out the opportunities below and see which fits your needs best.

Fundraisers:

TASK fundraisers keep TASK alive. Without them, we wouldn't have the money to do what we do on a daily basis: provide programming for kids and adults with special needs. Volunteering at a TASK fundraiser takes pressure off of TASK staff, helps the event run more smoothly, and creates a better atmosphere for everyone involved. And our volunteers impact more than just that one particular fundraiser. When we have enthusiastic volunteers that help make an event a success, attendees are more likely to return (and bring friends, too).

TASK holds several different types of fundraisers throughout the year, each one requiring different necessities from our volunteers. Volunteer positions for fundraisers include set-up crews, waitstaff, bartenders, registration officials, cheering stations, scorekeepers, and many more. Below is a list of annual fundraisers and the time of year they generally take place. For more information regarding a specific fundraiser, please contact Maura Donahue.

  • Trivia Night -- January

  • Spring Golf Classic -- April

  • Cornhole Tournament -- May

  • Golf Tournament -- September

  • TASK Vegas Shuffle -- November

Holiday Events:

Throughout the year, TASK hosts a number of Holiday-themed activities for TASK athletes and their families. These day-long or afternoon events provide an opportunity for TASK families connect as a whole, all while providing a ton of fun for parents and kids alike. In order to make these events as successful as possible, we need a dedicated volunteer base that is willing to give their time and effort for the day. Holiday events currently include Easter Bunny Day, Fall Festival, and Holly Day Camp. For more information about volunteer needs for these specific programs, contact Maura Donahue.

Resource Fair:

This past August, in conjunction with the Recreation of Council of Greater St. Louis and MetLife, TASK hosted its 2nd Annual Resource Fair. Events such as this are incredibly important to the special needs community and their families, providing valuable resources and contacts affecting multiple facets of life, all in one place. What made TASK's fair different, however, was the Kid Zone. We provided an area for parents to drop off their kids to play while they explored the different resources available to them inside. The resource fair was a great success in 2014. Planning for the resource fair of 2015 is underway. As the fair grows, so does our need for volunteers. We will need help with set-up, kids zone, parking, refreshments, and break down. Check back for more details on date and time.
