Social Nights
In addition to our programming, TASK offers Social Nights on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Friday of every month. Social Nights allow our athletes to come together and interact with one another outside the realm of athletics. Social nights are less structured than typical TASK programs, creating a new type of atmosphere in which our participants are able build self-esteem, self-confidence, and social fluency.
Volunteers are incredibly important during Social Nights, and it offers a different type of volunteering experience. At TASK Social Nights, volunteers are responsible for:
-
creating and maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiasm, inclusion, and fun.
-
encouraging social interaction amongst participants.
-
running different games/stations/activities.
-
providing one-on-one support, when needed.
Social Night volunteers should arrive at TASK at 30 minutes before start time and expect to stay until 30 minutes after end time. It's a great opportunity for large groups to come and volunteer at the same time, gaining four service hours for a single evening. Social Nights are broken up by age group as follows:
1st Friday: 19+ 6:00pm-9:00pm
2nd Friday: 13-18 6:00pm-9:00pm
3rd Friday: 8-12 5:30pm-7:30pm
The Social Night for our 8-12 age group is much different than the others. The participants still need a lot of structure and the schedule of activities is much more detailed. In addition, the energy level is a bit higher. It is A LOT of fun, but requires a high level of energy and awareness.
